We Love the Clothiers!

Last week Adam and I got to shoot one of my favorite portrait sessions EVER! We've known the Clothiers for almost 10 years, since Darcy and I were rowing partners in college. Since then we've had the pleasure to photograph 2 weddings (Darcy's and her sister Lindsay's) and many family shoots, from baby showers to newborn photos to these latest shots with their 98 year old Grandma...

Kirk, Darcy's dad, brought his baby book with him to share with his mom, daughters and grandchildren. No one had seen the book in years as it had just turned up recently, it included a bunch of old photos and even a snip of Kirk's baby hair! It was absolutely wonderful to witness them look through the book together...

Meanwhile the little ones, Owen and Hazel, hung out together... it was so sweet to see their interaction!

Below, Kirk read out loud "A Mother's Blessing to Her Child", which his mom had written to him when he was only 5 yrs old. It included that he must never forget the "golden rule" among other great words of advice :).

I love the photo below, Hazel was intently checking out my camera while everyone else reminisced.

I was so thankful for the moment below, Grandma was alone looking at the photos and she stopped on this one in particular... her husband, Bear, with their boys.

It was so sweet to see Lindsay and her grandma's hands together below, I love that both of their wedding rings are showing.

I LOVE the photo below... Kirk was so happy to have his family around him, he just laughed as Hazel cried!

Owen loved his milk :), he was so cute!

Thank you to the Clothiers for a wonderful time! We love you guys!!!

Caucus Day!

Yesterday was the Washington State caucus and Adam and I are so glad we participated! We had a great time, our precinct location was PACKED, it was held at a Methodist Church nearby. In 2004 the room shown below was big enough for everyone... but this time after sitting for 1/2 hour trying to get everyone in, we ended up taking over the sanctuary of the church... which still wasn't big enough to hold the more than 600 people who showed up... it was awesome.

We even saw past wedding clients of ours, Elizabeth and Chad (below)... Seattle felt like such a small city, and the process gave us a real sense of community.

My mom enjoyed chatting with a neighbor below.

The photo below is a view of the packed sanctuary; in the end people were packed into the rafters and out the door. Mike and Azzy, we wished you could have been here with us!

There were tons of cute kids, and lots of great debates going on all around us.

The little girl below was so adorable, she had studied her candidates and was proudly supporting Obama. She said many times she wished she was old enough to vote!

The two girls below were our favorite story of the day, they are sisters who are originally Canadian but recently became naturalized citizens in order to vote in this election (for Obama as well!) They were so passionate it was really cool to see. The girl in red was the first to stand up and give a speech to the huge crowd.

After a long day of caucusing Adam ended up a delegate, and I'm an alternate, yeah! We had to get a treat, so we went to our local Cupcake Royal to cast our "vote" one more time... yum.

Snow in Seattle

It's been a great winter here in Seattle, we've had snow that actually sticks a few times and Maddie has loved it... she is definitely a cold weather dog. "Oafie" from next door comes over to play every weekend (that's what she's recently decided to re-name herself :)) She is so great, we're very thankful for our neighbors!
